shifter play 120-130

Don't quote me on this, but I do recall reading somewhere that it's possible (and not uncommon) to remove the the brass insert with the notches, rotate it 90º, replace it and machine new notches. Those worn notches are the source of the play. In any event, you want a cover with tight notches for that tight(er) shift pattern.
