Random stalling 200 1986

Not a typo. After I cleaned the TB, the idle went sky-high. The buildup of varnish was "sealing" the annular opening between the throttle butterfly and the venturi that resulted because moron mechanic had "adjusted" the throttle open using the mechanical stop. All that extra air caused the idle to increase.

The "CIS motor" is the Constant Idle Speed motor, also called the Idle Air Valve. On the '86, it's mounted to the vertical strut under the intake manifold. The CIS motor is about the size of a small soup can. Expect something like 200k miles out of it before it needs replacement -- the "motor" portion of it will wear out even though the "valve" end is still good.
