SU Adjustment Question 120-130

I took apart my SU's (original 1964 HS6's) today to clean them and then put them back together in the car. I went through the adjustment procedure on VClassics and when I got to the part that says:

"3) Raise (or lower) the jets in equal amounts, one flat at a time, until the fastest idle is obtained."

I did this and ran out of adjustment on one carb. I adjusted the jet with the nut until the nut was tight against the spring/body of the carb and it was only at that point that the engine had picked up speed and started to smooth out. I think if I had more adjustment the car would run better. What do I need to do to get more adjustment out of it? Do I need a different jet or can I reposition the needle some?
