Sound blankets from a diesel 200

There's a diesel (forgot to check the year) at my local Pick n Pull, and I pulled off the engine compartment lid sound blanket to see if I could make it work on my '88 244. I assumed that it would be a direct fit, but I was noticing that the holes in the blanket for the clips don't quite line up with the holes on the underside of the frame of my hood. I figure I'll just punch some new holes in the blanket to fit where the holes in my hood are. Has anybody else made this modification? If so, was that your experience as well, that the blanket didn't fit quite right?

Also, are there any other parts on a diesel that I could try to pull in order to quiet my ride?
