vacuum in air intake 200

So, this is pretty dumb question considering how much I have worked on my volvo but here it goes:

What creates the vacuum inside of the intake manifold and if it is a pump where is it located in my 1986 245 with LH2.x and a B230F?

I have a stumble at idle and so I have checked all of the hoses in that vicinity for leaks. But nothing has shown up. I just ordered a new air intake hose from FCP groton because I think I found a small crack in the hose. Hopefully this will solve the stumble. But I am still confused as to where the vacuum pump is that creates the vacuum in there. Does it come from the engine cylanders?

Also how likely is it that i might have a leak that comes from the charcol canister that runs back to the fuel tank?
