bad running on startup 700 1989

The car starts and dies unless you hold the gas. This is only when the car is cold afterwards it will idle. Also the car will die if you abruptly let go of the gas if you are slow moving or at a stop. This is at any engine temp. Something intresting I have noticed is that when you are at a standstill and gradually hit the gas, it will clime and then drop down the rpm one time. After that you have to push the gas down further to get to the same rpm. Both of these problems started at different times. The car still drives fine these are just really annoying. Bad throttle position switch maybe? Thanks for any imput.
