Rear clunking sound in my 240 200

Upon backing my volvo out and then putting it into drive right after acceleration I hear a cluncking sound from the rear end. I have looked into the various parts that might be causing the problem. I replaced the shocks myself ,along with new torque rod bushings. My u-joints were checked by a mehanic and were good . Another shop told me the problem is probably my rear end ( differential) Now a friend of mine told me the dana rear ends very rarely go bad . I also had the tranny mount changed. Does anyone have a similiar problem or suggestions to this problem?
