BLUE SMOKE AT STARTUP 900 1994

944T, B230FT, 166KMis. Blue smoke not noticeable within a minute after startup; but if car sits for a while, smoke recurs on next startup.

Found dipstick popped up and evidence of oil blown from tube.

Flash arrestor and interconnecting hose lines are clear. Throttle body is clean. Can't tell if the little valve connecting to turbo inlet downstream of air mass meter is working, but otherwise the crankcase vent path appears clear.

Cylinder compression pressures rise in a few strokes to 155 (cyls 1 & 2) to 170psig (cyls 3 & 4). Looks like rings and valve stem seals are OK ... ??

Plugs are a little shiny with oil; but not burning a measurable amount yet.

Thinking this leaves turbo bearing and seals. Turbo last replaced at 100KMis. Should last longer, I think. Why would a failed turbo seal cause cranckase pressure and popped up dipstick?

What else is there? All help much appreciated.

Frustrated,
Fairfax, VA
