Looking for the short answer on the confusing sway bar issue..thanks! 200

Having read the post below, I'm looking for some supplemental information to help me in my quest. I have a 1993 240 wagon with stock sways. I want to upgrade the sways using other Volvo products. Specifically, when I go to the junk yard, what cars am I looking to find for their sway bars to put on the 93. When posters talk about turbo cars, sedans etc. does this also include 740's and 940's or must I stay confined to 240 offerings?

From previous Fitzgerald post: "Remember, for us wagon owners, a regular Sedan rear sway bar and a Turbo (sedan or wagon) front bar will make a matched pair for a wagon."

Only 240s or 740s, 940s etc?

Thanks so much,

Sincerely,

JBeechcraft

It's easier than you think. Check out the following from the archives:

Assuming you're on a budget (like myself), using GLT or Turbo bars is the affordable way to go. Add a few new bushings from the dealership and you've got some significant improvements. If you're planning on upgrading tires and more, you might want to consider IPD bars later down the line, but try the Turbo bars first. -It's only a $30 or so investment.

Remember, for us wagon owners, a regular Sedan rear sway bar and a Turbo (sedan or wagon) front bar will make a matched pair for a wagon.

Stock non-turbo sedans come equipped with both 19mm front and rear sway bars.
Stock non-turbo wagons come equipped with a 19mm front bar and a 15mm rear bar. (but have stiffer springs in the rear)

Ballanced upgrades from GLT or Turbos are:

Sedan: 23mm Front / 21mm Rear
Wagon: 23mm Front / 19mm Rear

Good luck and God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.
