What happened to my battery?!?!??! 200 1982

After school today I decided to mow the lawn. I suddenly started to shower so I grabbed a key closed the sunroof and rolled up the windows. They're power windows. Anyhow, I went back to mowing the lawn. About three hours later I started to get hungry so I fired up the grill, then ran out or LP gas in the tank. Jumped in the Volvo and NOTHING. Apperently I had left the key in the ignition switch in the run position this whole three hours. Luckily I had a spare battery laying around and now my stomach hurts from eating too much bar-b-que! What on Earth could have happened? None of the accesories were on so I don't see what could have drained the battery. Any ideas or expeiences with this.


P.S I just finished replacing every suspension component on my 244 and got it all aligned at Sears. WOW!! It's like a new car...I could not have even dreamed of doing this all by myself without the help of all the geniuses (sp?) here on the Brickboard- THANKS EVERYONE!!!
