Walrus, need your expertise! 140-160 1975

Hey Walrus, you seem to be the resident 164 guru. Also, Mr. Green recommends you! I recently picked up a '75 164E, and have a few questions. Mostly random thoughts that have come to mind. I know that the '75 model had an electronic distributor, but does it still have points for the fuel injection system like a D-jet B-20? Or is this part electronic as well? Just curious.

Also, I have been talking to Angus from OZ about converting to the early style grill and bumper, and thought I would see what folks here think about this modification. Have you done/seen this done before? Angus says you simply remove the spot welded lower piece of sheet metal, make some brackets to mate the early grill mounting points to the later grill mounting points, and you're golden. Also said you must find the early bumper with brackets, and brake line brackets.

On that note, do you know of anyone that might have these parts available for sale (Early grill, surround, bumper, brackets, etc.)? I would be interested.

Thanks for your time Walrus.

Best regards,
Eric Mollerstuen
