Central door locking relay 700 1987

In trying to figure out why my car wouldn't start (as it turned out, an ignition problem), I discovered that the central door locking relay "hot" lead had heated up and melted the base into which the relay mounts. The relay seems to work - it locks the doors - but I'm assuming I should replace it. I'm also assuming, at the moment, that there must have been some resistance at this connection, which is what caused the overheating. Any known problems with these?
