Sudden Engine Failure 700 1990

It was very cold this morning but the car started and ran fine!
After about 45 minutes of trouble free operation I stopped for
about 5 minutes. It restarted fine but then died suddenly shortly
after when I was stepping on the gas.
The car turns over, but will not start.
The tach remains at zero.
When the key is is off or removed the battery light is on!
All electrical devices seem to work ok.

Any ideas?

Richard Marsh
