I love my turbos, my 17 yr old daughter drives the 850T, but I maintain them. Now that we have our own history of parts replaced and probable problems, I am not hesitating letting her take the car to college.
You will not have time to get a trust bond with the 740T and it will require it. Keep looking at cars, especially Honda and Toyota. The 98 Taurus won't break until around 100K.
