Which switch is which? 120-130

So I have the B20 nearly ready to be installed into the nearly "restored" engine bay of the '68 122. I put the M41 onto the engine and I'll go with a short shifter. (man, I found some discs at HD for my grinder and they cut through that tunnel metal like soft butter). Anywho I've been fooling around with M40 and M41 lids and want to confirm that there are two sorts of back-up switches; the kind on top left (looking from behind) and the kind in the little silver box that the rods slide into.
It would seem I have installed both on the same lid. Is either more reliable?
Thanks.
