How to pull distributor gear? 140-160 1974

I pulled the pan (wrecking the gasket), because I dislike how tight the shaft is tight in the bushing. Pulled it all apart, cleaned the shaft by mouting it in a drill press and polishing it. It was tight to get out, and all the manuals pics of fingertips lifting it gently out bug me.

BTW: gasket is same from '61 to '96.

I'm wondering if the flat end got 'spread' a little over 250k miles, and distorted the bushing when it got pulled.

I will have to look a little more closely for a high spot.
I checked the shaft: it is as straight as I can measure.

I'm using the IPD ring also, but that hasn't made any diff.

Then again, I could be imagining everything, because now I can't remember if the thing rotated acceptably easily with the cam out.

Getting closer to calling it good.
