Engine Knock 900 1993

I have a '93 Volvo 960 sedan that has, a noise that sounds to me like bearing knock. The car starts fine, and idles fine, but if you blip the throttle, or accelerate in gear, it knocks. It does not do it while it is idling, and if you slowly raise the RPMs, the noise doesn't appear. I think it might be crank bearings, but I'm looking for input from someone who has more specific knowledge about these cars than I do. I was also told it could be the thrust bearing, but I can't find ANY info about the thrust bearing, except that in the engine R&R manual, then mention that it exists (doesn't even say where, or show a diagram....)

Thanks in advance,
-Chris
