Some time back there was a post asking for info re: same job.

His problem wasn't what you're having, but was with getting the new struts compressed so as to fit into the linkage. I wish I remembered the post number, but I found this: "Strut Spring Compressor use tip" Friday, 3 August 2001, at 2:03a.m.

THere will, I hope, be other responses to your request. That job is no snap.
