Don't know what to say, but that isn't really a new engine sort of thing as far as I know.
Do the plugs give any clue? When I blew the headgasket (tried a copper gasket on my last rebuild, it promptly leaked on the first drive) I had whitish crystal-ish deposits ont he plugs. Oil would make them look, well, oily.
If you have leaking coolant a compression test would likely show leaking compression. If you have the equipment (I wish I did) a leakdown test would let you tell where any leakage is going.
