Don't know of any brilliant shit.

Insofar as the filler cap is concerned, I had the same issue and had to double up on the seal to get it to quit. I expect either the spring in the cap (holding up the little "ears") is expired or the "ramps" under the cover are worn down/bent.

In any event, the double seals stopped the very annoying leak.
