I think I know the answer!!!!! 200 1993

Well, finally after me nagging, my husband finally looked at my car - 20 miles south on highway 83 in rush hour traffic in the rain. Lol, R2 ran like sh*t today, and totally died on the highway home. We checked vaccuum and all sorts of stuff, looked at the fuel pump relay (IT HAD A PAPERCLIP IN IT!!!!! wtf!?) which was happily clicking over, and finally narrowed things down to the air mass meter. With the car running, you remove the wiring harness to the meter and the engine runs rough, re-connect and things smooth out. That's how you check if the air mass meter is broken. In my case, it didn't make much difference connected or not, but if you wiggled the wires a certain way, things would run like they should. The real problem - corosion on the AMM plug. We sprayed some PB Blaster on it to get me home and it ran like a champ. Parked it and its still running after almost a quarter hour (where before I'd be happy with 5 mins). SO - check your AMM!
best of luck!

Sarah and R2
