Speedometer Dead 200

i have an 89' 240GL with the same problem, except mine has an electric speed sensor. mine still works a little bit, but often only at speeds above 50 mph, on warm days, after the engine has warmed up. it's getting progressively worse and barely works at all now.

anyone have any ideas? or at least, can someone tell me where the speed sensor is located? i can't seem to find it.
