You got that right, Phil. My 74 144 with a B20A, does that for the first 15-30 seconds or so upon start up, here in Malaysia where the temp never drops below 80F all year round. I seldom use the choke, unless its a cold rainy morning, but the right pressure on the gas pedal until it stabilises will work just fine.
