In addition to the suggestion below, clean the throttle body and idle air control valve. See the 700/900 FAQs for that. Sounds like the IAC is sticking, or the throttle position switch is dirty/maladjusted, you're not getting the controlled airflow you need to maintain even idle speed so with the extra load from the alternator when the lights are on, it's not getting enough air to keep running. Should be a cheap ($5) fix, just need a can of TB cleaner and a TB gasket.
