Pedal Box Conversion 140-160

I don't want to convert to cable.. I just want to install the newer style gas pedal. I thought the 73 and on style gas pedal was attached to the clutch, break pedal assembly? Is this not the case?

As far as I know fuel injected cars used a cable and the carburated ones used a rod linkage.

I don't know if the firewall changed.. it could have, but I doubt it.
