Engine knock 700

Well today I decided to pull the head off since I ruled out the bottom end having any problem. Once I pulled the head, I noticed the #4 spark plug was barely in the combustion chamber. The previous owner or whoever stripped the thread and the spark plug was basically still in the hole. I removed the cam, inspected everything, everything seems to be in order and in good shape.

I dont see how there was a knocking. I also dont see how if the spark plug problem didnt cause a knock before, how it could cause a knock now only after I changed the valve cover gasket and intake manifold gasket. Can this spark plug condition cause a knocking? I am conviced that it was causing sloppy idle.

It has a new head gasket now, but I got too tired to finish. I will keep you posted on the results. Thanks for your suggestions!

PS. The timing belt was replaced a while back and I never had problems with it, this knock sound is completely new.
