That's what I am suggesting. Take a little less off, as its real easy for a shop to take a couple thou more off than you want. A couple of thou extra clearance
won't make any difference. A few thou to little will.

As to the trans, if you can find a T9 from a Ford Merkur, Ford Siera, XR4ti, or even a few 2.3 mustangs, they will fit and I can get you an adapter plate.
