for Self-Starters, Only 140-160

George,

I pulled the starter back out then de-soldered the leads on the solenoid, pulling off the cap.

The copper contacts there look fine to me.

The symptom of slow- to no- engine turnover remains, even with a battery charger also hooked up to the battery, or directly to the positive lead of the starter.

For what it's worth, while I had the solenoid cap off, I tested zero Ohms between the leads I had just unsoldered.

It sounds like you are saying there is not enough strength of current to run the starter?

What else can I check on the solenoid while I have it open? The paper moisture seal is damaged...and it looks like somebody had this unitl opened up before, as I see a dent like some prying off of the cap took place....

No rust under there, though.
