OH, the pulling was constant too, it was just really noticable upon braking.
I wanted to also add that the 50 year old SKF wheel bearings still looked almost new, save a slight surface modification of the races (I inspected them under 30x magnification). These were the only wearable parts I did not replace, and so if your wheel bearings are orignial Swedish SKF bearings (and not some Japenese or worse American product such as Timken--I have a real sour opinion of these) I would not replace them! If you do, you will likely be replacing wheel bearings regularly every few years. They really do not make these like they used to, and not only are the original SKF wheel bearings perfectly acceptable, in my opinion they're superior to any replacement you could find. The Swedes way over designed them.
