When is enough, ENOUGH?

A couple comments ...

Midas raped you on the shocks/struts. That amount could've gotten the rest of the "wear" items too at a better shop.

The electrical wiring issues are well known issue in the mid-80's Volvo. If known sooner, I would've suggested getting a used harness from Dave Barton and taking it to a mechanic for a few hours of labor in replacing it. Considering that even my cousin, who truthfully is not all that adept at car repairs was able to follow Dave's instructions and replace the entire harness in less than a weekend and have it start right up on the first shot afterwards, it's not that tough a job at all. A pro should take 3 hours maximum.

Hang around and get some comments to whatever other problems arise ... that's how we learn around here. 6 years ago when I bought my first Volvo, I knew nothing about car repairs. Through this board, repair manuals, and general topics on the internet, I did nearly every repair myself. I just said to myself that if I failed, the worse is that I lost $350 and I'll have to find another cheap specimen.

-- Kane ... and old Volvos are durable, but not necessarily the most reliable.
