hood interchangeability 700

I need a hood for a 1992 740 wagon. Will a hood from a sedan fit? From searching this site, I believe a 1991-95 740 or 940 hood would fit. Is this so?

A tree branch fell on the hood and put a dent which would hold say 1 1/2 or 2 gallons of water. In general hoods are tough to repair, but has anyone got experience in repair of a 740 hood. The dent is on the passenger side, about at the front edge of the front wheel well. Fortunately the fender and grill are ok. I was thinking about taking the hood off the car and trying to pop the dent out with sand bags.
