That is indeed a thermal switch. It goes directly to your auxiliary cooling fan, located in front of your radiator.

Call up FCP Groton (877-634-0063) and tell them that you need the following parts:
1) auxiliary cooling fan sensor ONLY (non-threaded)
2) O-ring/seal for it

Should only run you a few dollars. When the new seal arrives, you may have a hard time plugging it in since it's going to be pretty tight.
