The 544 is out of the '86-87 LH2.2, whereas you have the slightly improved '88 version 554. The 556 is for the California (EGR) LH2.4 and is not appropriate. The 544 should be OK in your car, I think there was a mild stall at braking issue in automatics. I have a cheap working 554 if you really want one.
