Fuel pumps: turbo vs non-turbo? 900 1991

I need to replace the fuel sending unit on my 1991 940T due to rusting of the unit plate & connectors.

Two questions:

1. Are fuel sending units typically sold complete with component parts (pre-pump, sock filter, hose, connectors)?

2. I plan to replace the pre-pump at the same time. Catalog listings at IPD and other supplies show pre-pumps for both turbos & non-turbos, with significant price differential. (Ditto for the main fuel pump.) What are the functional/performance differences? Would it be possible/advisable to install a sending unit with a non-turbo 700/900 pre-pump? My basic automotive understanding is that what makes a turbo a turbo happens further "up front" in the fuel delivery system, but perhaps I'm wrong...

Thanks,
Peter A. Rogers
