How hard do you push your red block? 700 1988

12 psi of boost. Shifting my aw71 at 4900 rpm - 5100 rpm when i'm going wot (which is more and more....:)..)

Result: tons of fun, no oil burning - Mobil 1 probably helps that a great deal
- and an engine that reminds me of a dog panting after a long run when I pull in the driveway.

I took a compression test a couple weeks ago, then started running 12 psi. I'll do another test after a little while and see if there's a change, but I doubt it.

It's an 88 230ft, the "weaker" block in volvo terms. But, it's treating me just fine. Just in case, I've got my sights on a 95 230ft with the heaver bottom, oil squirters and round manifold. Juuusst in case........

I have revved this engine to 5900 rpm several times under load before overboosting, no apparent problems. It does have cylinder sleeves in it. (previous owner / mechanic). I wonder if this is a factor. They appeared to be well installed by a reputable machine shop here in town. I discovered this when doing a headgasket job upon purchase of the car last summer. just about sh#t myself when the head came off.

Josh in Saskatchewan.
