The frustration continues... 1800

Damn... I sorta wondered...

Another thing to check before you go further... shoulda thought about this earlier too... As I recall, the flange is what fits the inside of the rear transmission oil seal... There are at least two different sizes of seals, and if you put a small seal flange in a J-type overdrive, there will be about 1/8" of airgap all the way around.. .hence, no seal at all...

I may be totally wrong about this, but it's worth either confirming with someone who knows, or taking that flange off again and making sure...

In any event, at this point it might be easiest to just plan on having the driveshaft modified. Either go with your large tranny flange and make the driveshaft to fit it, or go with the small flange and add 1/2" to the front section of the driveshaft. I don't think that would be too awful expensive... probably not more than $100. That's a pretty inexpensive end to the frustration...

There probably is a transmission flange out there that is the perfect fit, and I'd still be happy to look through my stash if you let me know measurements... But it might just be easiest to make a driveshaft that works.

Check that seal.
