164 no start, no spark 140-160 1975

Neil,
I lucked out and was able to donate my 780 with a B280, so the tax deduction paid for it nicely. What a nice running car, too bad the engine and tranny were so poorly designed. And the leather seats, once soft were hard as a rock and beyound repair.
I have stared at the distributer and cap until I am blue in the face. I get spack in #1 and #2. The others are too hard to check with out a remote starter button. It's not 180 off either, #1 was marked to be at 9 o'clock before I took it off. Besides, the lengths of the leads which were not taken off the cap, can only reach #1-3 plugs.
The temp sensor for the cold start plug is probably dead and I will order a new one soon. Meanwhile, I will keep the cold start unplugged. The other temp sensor seems to be fairly good, but I will get a new one from Volvo just to be sure.
It really feels like the timeing is way off, but I didn't touch that. Even the mechanic that "fixed" it can't figure it out. Of course, he has me frustrated to no end right now. He won't do a house call!
