87-240Dl stuck on overdrive (automatic transmission)

I just noticed today that my 87 240 DL (automatic Transmission)is not shifting to the highest speed gear.
In other words it goes from 1st to second gear with no problems .. but it will not go into third.. or the highest gear.
Please help me.. got to make it to work tomorrow.
