Somebody has to take the risks. Live and learn. Whatever works for you. (Hey, somebody tested a fan clutch by grabbing the blades with his fingers.)

Btw, I think someone else did this before you. I seem to recall seeing a similar design on this board some time back. Don't recall negative feedback though.
