Hey there!
Last week i obtained an 1971 volvo 142/105 car that i stripped for parts for my volvo 144.
My question goes like this, the engine in the 144/105 is supposed to be somewhat special isn't it?
It's not an B18 sport as one would think, but according to the papers it's an B20 sports engine,, it also says B20 on the block...? After asking around in my local volvo community most people have heard of the myth about an original "tuned" engine that was mounted in very few volvo 142/105 cars...
It is supposed to have bigger valves and so on, but i have no idea?
Someone who can enlighten me on this topic?
The car has been sitting in a barn since 1972, the man who owned it died just after purchasing it and his wife didn't have a license so she just left it there, she usually started her up a couple every year and took her for a drive around the house just to check that she was still working and running nicely.
So i can most definetly say that the engine has never been swapped, so whats the story with this engine then...? I tried to drive her around the block and there sure as hell was alot more horsepower in that engine than in my original B20 engine :) I actually could do burnouts with the car in both 1'st and second gear, swirling around in circles on the tarmac with both wheels spinning... :O
I coould only dream of doing that with my original B20 :p
So if anyone knows the story behind such an engine and can give me some specs, that would be great!! ;)
Best Regards
