Solid motor mounts instead of liquid filled.. 700 1988

The liquid filled mounts are for cars with the AW automatic transmission. An 86 with ZF automatic that I am parting out has the solid rubber ones, which appear to be identical to those for a manual transmission. This sounds to me as if the Japanese transmission is the source of any vibration, not the engine.

I have an 88 wagon that I converted from AW70 to M46 overdrive. I changed the motor mounts as part of the process. The pedestals are different and have to be changed too. I am referrring here to the stock mounts for MT vs AT--I was not aware of the availability of the substitute rubber mounts to replace the liquid filled ones. I have not experienced any unusual vibration as a result of the change.
