I got a simple question. I have an 82 cis car with no turbo. I have found a cheap and easy bolt on solution for a bit more excitement. I have a found a donor 82 with cis that has a turbo. Let's say I get the oil feeds and exhaust manifold sorted out. Can I get away with using my current intake manifold? This is the kind with the short elbow going to it from the intake plate that has the plenum necessary to mix the air and fuel. With this setup the fuel gets mixed with the Charged air AFTER it goes through the turbo. On the donor car I notice the same plenum but its near the front of the car (where the washer bottle usually goes) which means that the air gets mixed with the fuel before it gets charged by the turbo. Am I correct so far? If so is it ok to just slap on the turbo and route the charged air directly to my intake where it would normally get fed by the box that sits near the battery? I am already aware of the compression ratio/detonation issues and plan to run at minimal boost which I think should be about 8psi. Any thoughts about this? Am I getting away with anything here or should I just transplant the entire turbo engine?
