Removing tar from paint

I agree with Gary. Remove petroleum products WITH petroleum products. Mineral spirits (AKA paint thinner), motor oil, even vegetable oil works good for getting off stuff like the left-over sticky from labels or old tape. Rub it on liberally, let it soak in a couple minutes, then gently rub it with some more on the rag. No need to go spend your hard earned beer money on expensive soap-and-water products.
