Just did the same thing on a Ford 4.0 V6 (1-temp gauge sender and 2- EC sender to the engine computer). Both thread in a cast assembly like the B230 block and did not need teflon tape.

The pic attached in one of the other posts is almost the same as the FoMoCo temp sender, right down to the 2 pin connector.
