Have you disconnected the battery for a few minutes to reset the LH computer's brain? It may have picked up some bad habits from the original AMM and O2 sensor.

Good tip, but rather than fussing with the battery (and maybe radio codes) it's easier just to pull the 25A fuse (or fuse #6 in '91 or later).
