Last Rites for Fuel Pump? 1800

Make sure your filter is on the correct side of your pump. When I first got my car I replaced al the fuel lines and somehow got this reversed. Car worked fine, but the pump would howl when making turns. I thought it was some sort of steering or suspension noise. Drove me nuts for months. Can't remember, now, where the filter goes and the car isn't handy for a looksee, but I think I had the filter on the suction side of the pump when it's supposed to be on the outlet side. Someone correct me if I've got this wrong.
