Hello all,
I have a 1987 740 Turbo. The car idles high at 2200 rpm. I went to the pick and pull and purchased two idle control valves, cleaned them, and installed them both. Each time the car still idled at 2200. I made sure they were installed correctly with the arrow going towards the block. I have also reset the TPS.
Something is causing the ICV to remain open all the time. I can reduce airflow by squeezing one of the hoses to the ICV and get the car to idle. I believe the ICV is somehow getting bad information. I unplugged the electrical connector to the ICV and tested it with a voltmeter. The top insert is the ground and it read 0.0, the middle was at 13.2, and the last was at 1.7.
Does anybody know what can cause the ICV to remain open constantly besides it being a faulty part? I have tested all my ICVs with a battery. They all open correctly.
Thank in advance.
