Use a Pitman Arm Tool 700 1990

I did not have a picture of the pitman arm tool with the ball joint but here is one with the tie rod end.

This tool makes the ball joint and tie rod end removal easy. Crank it down and use a few taps at the end of the tightened screw with a hammer. There is a larger version for the ball joint. About $10 or $12 or free rental at Auto Zone. The ball joint even has a slight indent in the screw end to hold the point of the pitman arm tool. I had to center punch the tie rod screw to make sure the point on the pitman arm screw stayed centered.
