Still having problems with headlights 200 1988

Save your money, don't buy the new bulbs just yet.

First, check out the relay as per Aye Roll's post.

Next, consider installing a new (JunkYard) stalk. Get several stalks, just to be sure one will work. They are the same for all 240s UNLESS you have cruise control. Stalk with cruise will work on a non-cruise car, not so the other way 'round.

When the same thing happened on my 1988 244 GL, it was the stalk. Replaced - fixed. I was probably lucky, never even thought of checking that relay. AND the stalk that was bad came to me with the cruise control stuff I bought on eBay and installed myself. Who know how old and/or weathered that stalk was. AND, maybe in the process of changing over I tightened up the ground connection
in there which might have been the actual original problem.
