lot of the shifting woes started in winter when i lost "passing gear" downshift. i discovered cable had come out of it's fitting at throttle. i returned it to spool and adjusted it re the faqs, though i never have been able to hear the cam clicking. also, at this same time the revving up in first before going to second started happening. the specs for cable adjust match whats in haynes manual. is it possible i wonder to have cable problems even with right adjusment? hmm.


the linkages didn't look anything like the pics in the link you sent me of past post. mine appeared okay with little if any slop. ( i'll check again maybe this weekend) the shifts don't hit any "stops", they just seem a little out. been so long i can't remember, but can you shift into drive second first without pressing locking button on top? i can. and there doesn't seem to be a really solid detent to keep it into chosen gear. seems to just slide from one gear to next.

maybe love and aw70's aren't forever. i was hoping a transmission was. you can always find another woman, but a good working automatic..... sigh.
